I am seeking information concerning possible Red Maple (Acer rubrum) hybridization with Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) and the potential for equine toxicity. I am familiar with the hemolysis (red blood cell rupture) and subsequent kidney failure reported as a result of RM twig and dried leaf ingestion. Do any list members have knowledge of potential hybrids and subsequent toxicity levels? Or perhaps suggest a research source?
