Here's one URL: http://www.accessatlanta.com/partners/ajc/epaper/editions/friday/local_news_93fa4469c36101960096.html The circumstances are strange. Could anyone have taken enough care? It tried to get other stories but was unable to get past the newspapers' tidy little fences. tubs |

Bob, there wasn't much written about the accident, one of the drawbacks of a one-newspaper town. The basic facts are that it was a pecan tree that had been dead for some time. The tree was in Ansley Park, one of Atlanta's older, affluent neighborhoods with sizeable homes and yards. The resident is a 93-year-old woman who is apparently too infirm to adequately monitor her grounds. A neighbor concerned about dead trees in her yard had teamed up with her nephew to hire a company to do the removals. The lesson here for me is to constantly keep an eye on dead trees I'm around until out of striking range. I agree that it was a rare fluke that could have happened to anyone. Take care, Tom |
