My Maple tree in front of y house is my favorite tree. It creates privorcy and shade for al of us. Problem is some years ago neighbors dog pulled some of the bark off on one side leavine it to get soft mushrooms grow out of the bottom of this spot and the side is realy soft i keep trying to save this tree i don't want to loose it can you help with this problem it is getting a bigger hole as time goea on. But it is blooming with buds so it is alive. Can you help me with this. Alice

Hi Alice, from the description you gave of your tree and its condition, you would be well advised to hire the services of a competant Certified/Consulting Arborist. I am very concerned that you might be grossly under estimating the condition and structural integrity of the tree. If the tree is near a house or other high use area, it could be very urgent,
