when initially planting a tree do you: A: use a tree tie that allows movement of the tree to encourage strong root growth due to small stresses, along the lines of the axiom of uniform stress??? B: use a tree tie that holds the tree firm allowing the new roots to grow into the surrounding soil without being sheared off by movement of the root ball??? (height of tie on stem not considered)

Hi Kit, 'A' if it's a windy site and 'C' if it's not. C: No ties. Newt -------------------- When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
