Starting about June 15, I will be offering an online class in Soils. It is the first time the class is being offered online for full college credit at MSU-Bottineau. I have been teaching the class on campus for 4 years and look forward to this approach to continuing education.

I anticipate that the discussions and lab results will be quite interesting, since one person may be starting the class while working in Northern India. Besides allowing working arborists to further their education, this is going to allow me to expand my knowledge of the subject. This is a very important part of the teaching profession.

I am using the text: Urban Soils in Landscape Design by Phillip Craul, J. Wiley and Sons, Inc. At times I hope to have parts of our forums open to "guest speakers" from sources such as this. One assignment will be for the students to review a thread on this Root and Soils forum and comment on what they have read.

If you are interested, please email me or contact Ken Grosz at 701-228-5451.

Come along for the trip!!!

Bob

PS. There will be ample room for student input during this class, so that you can help me improve it as we go. I have never delivered a perfect class in the classroom and see no reason why I should expect to online, especially on the first try. We will learn a bunch together.
