Has anyone come accross a situation where it was proven that tree roots (not trunk or buttress) caused damage to house foundations (strip footing) by the physical pressure of annual growth expansion (direct damage)? As opposed to damage caused by a permanent moisture defecit (tree roots removing water from the soil) causing localised shrinkage of certain clay soils, resulting in uneven movement and damage to the house (indirect damage).
