From what I've been reading, this plant bug has attacked my honeylocust. It was planted last year in NW Arkansas.

The leaves have been turning yellow for at least a month and now they are dropping. Just green sticks remain.

If the plant bug has done the damage and left....what can be done in late fall/ winter/ early spring to get rid of them before they attack?

Thanks,

Mary Jane

Now you should put it on a regular watering program to reduce further stress. It is a floodplain tree so overwatering is hard to do. The have multiple flushes of growth so the survive the infestations, but look poorly.

The nymphs hatch shortly after the leavs come out so treatment should start then. Any contact insecticide will work; sevin, eight, I use orthene since it has residual properties of around 30 days. Soaps and oils will work too.

On small trees you can get decent control woth regular blasts from a garden hose.

Remember, with any pesticide read the lable, for it is the law.

Better yet, hire a certified contractor to apply chemicals.

HL is a legume and realy doesn't need any fertilizer.
