2 weeks ago I noticed a fruiting fungus on a Giant Sequoia at eye level coming out of a fissure in the trunk. Its grey-white in color and it looks like it poured out shaped something like a lava flow. Now the outer white skin is mostly gone revealing a chocolate brown color cotton mass that disentigrates to the touch and blows away. I thought that it was Butt Rot but it doesn't match any of the descriptions in any of the books that I have. Any ideas?
