We have 2 maple trees and both appear to have the same disease. Some of the leaves have red or green nodules on them about 1-2mm in diameter. Some of the leaves have a few, others are completely covered and causing the leaves to wither and die. Any ideas on what this is, and if there are any treatments? Thanks!!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I couldn't find anything in the handbook that was similar to my problem. These "nodules" appear to grow out of the leaves, kind of like a skin tag mole on a person. It seems they start out red, and then turn green. Any other ideas?? Thanks much!!

It sounds like a gall to me.

I have the same symptoms in the UK with a young Acer Pseudoplatanus "Simon-Louis Freres" - I assumed that these were the eggs of something - until I found this thread; my tree's problem is definitely Maple Bladder Gall.
Thanks a lot!
