Has anyone ever heard of or experienced a catastrophic failure with the Brush Bandit #200 Chipper over the last 4 or so years.

Why, have you heard of one? Is there some concern?

Brian, I have a 1998 Bandit 250XP with the John Deere 125 HP dsl.Another local company had two of these machines(couple years older)that they just got rid of.They told me they lost a couple of engines. They said that apparently while towing down the highway the angle of the exhaust flapper allowed the wind to open the flapper and the air current would spin the turbo backwards with out proper lubrication, leading to the turbo failing and grenading the engine. They said they mounted a small spring that they hooked to the flapper to hold it closed while in transport. They could just be B.S.ing me.I figure I'll try driving behind mine to see if the flapper lifts or not.I do know that we've had the flapper mount break twice on mine since July.I also heard through the local Bandit dealer that somewhere in N.Y. in '98 someone opened the disc cover on a Bandit while the disc was still rotating.I guess the housing flexed and one of the disc fan blades hit the cover tearing it off and it struck another tree worker killing him.I am very pleased with my Bandit,I should have bought one 5 years ago.
