A neighbor who just purchased an adjoining lot and admits that he didn't look at his survey cut 15 50' red oaks on our property. He's admitting guilt but no mal-intent. We want to settle peacefully but have no idea what is fair. We don't want to incur big appraisal costs -- is there any way we can "ballpark" the value so that we can get at a basic idea of what fair compensation should be for this damage? (VT)
