We have had a couple of fires here in Colorado. I have run into at least ten instances where insurance adjusters are giving covered property owners five percent of insured value of property for tree loss. In talking to the claims adjuster, I have been told that this is the new standard coverage for landscape losses. It is still five hundred per tree, minus the deductable, but no payment over the five percent. Has anyone else run into this? I am checking with a couple of agents I know to see when this was changed. If this is a national phenom, we had better make note of this in future appraisal workshops.
