The first place to look is The Guide for Plant Appraisal, published by ISA. The Ninth Edition is currently at the printers, and should be available in a month or two, so you may want to wait for it. You can order it now from ISA. There will be a few workshops around the country during the next year on tree appraisal, so maybe you can find one to attend. If you like to travel, there will be one in Pennsylvania on May 25 and 26. |

Russ's advice is good. Also go back through the Journal of Arboriculture and read any valuation articles over the years. There have been articles from time to time in TCI, Arbor Age and Arborist News as well. You can try to wade through the threads here. Another good way is to work with someone who does appraisals. Try to talk to Mark Duntemann at Natural Path in Missoula. You'll also find articles on the various Urban Forestry web sites. |

I know Mark Duntemann of Missoula MT. I need to talk with him on other items so I will bring up training of tree valuation. I will also get with the ISA on information. Thank you Scott and Russ. |

Gerald, I thought of one other source for you to check- contact the Rocky Mountain Chapter of ISA to see if they have anything planned out there. Maybe check with Pacific Northwest Chapter, too. |
