I work with Paul Davis here in south Florida and he thought you may be able to help.

I have conducted a 5-6% sampling of an typical pine flatwoods area (approx. 7 acres)containing mostly slash pine trees. My sampling pods measured 50'x50' and 25'x25'. Trees range in caliper from 6.6" to 18.7. The average appears to be around 9.6". Now that I have the number of pines and their calipers, what is the best methodology to apply the data accross the full 7 acres? Should the pods be averaged? I am looking for a distribution of the number of trees as well as their calipers. Trees per acre.
