I have been contracted to transplant many large and mature palms and trees on a site. I have several questions and I am sure there will be more later. Is there a limit as to height or age in moving palms (livistonias and royals)? Is there anything that can be done pre transplant to increase survival rate like pumping them up with vitemens or steroids? I mean nutrients in the soil or foliage, hydrating the future root ball with a wetting agent and/or nutrients, beneficial soil flora, hormones, etc.? Has anyone ever used a backhoe with a hydraulic hammer and the tip replaced with a shovel like tip? How about a large trenching machine? Hand held jackhammers with shovel tips? Any input on this subject will be greatly appreciated. This project will take place in Cuernavaca which is one hour south of Mexico City and 2.5 hrs from Acapulco.
Thanking you in advance for your reply.
