A local nurseryman has recommended Cryptomeria japonica as a fast growing, deerproof evergreen screen for part shade. It seems perfect but I don't need or want anything 30' tall. Will it tolerate light pruning to keep it within bounds?

My experience with Cryptomeria is very limited, but I know it comes in varieties that have different growth rates (and ultimate sizes).
