Hi, we're wondering if you could adivse us on a sturdy choice of tree to be planted in a clay soil with high rainfall, poor drainage and high winds. Not the optimum of tree growing conditions we admit. The purpose is just to get something more than swamp plants and gorse to grow, any suggestions at all??

thank you
luke

Can think of a lot for temperate to tropical conditions.
What is the climate like.

This is going to sound familiar, but: "check with your local extension." Most extension offices have a list of locally recommended trees for particular site conditions.
