I'm looking for information on using a tree as an anchor for an aerial cableway. Specifically what a root system of a 5' diameter maple tree will handle in the way of torque (tipping).

Thanks in advance for any information you might be able to provide.

Well Douglas, the answer to that depends on a number of things. How far up in the tree will the cable be anchored?? What type of soil is the tree growing in?? What species of maple is it?? Beyond your questions come other questions; How are you going to attach the cable to the tree?? Who is going to be using this cableway?? I would need a lot more information before I say anything!! James
