I have what I think is a sugar maple, about 50 years old. This year it seems to have very few leaves. There are LOTS of "helicopters", and it looks as though when they come off, the tree will be bare! I am outside of Montreal, QC. What leaves there are seem to be healthy. Thanks for any thoughts on this!

Hi Barb,
I realize it's been a long time since you posted your question, but it sounds like verticillium wilt. http://www.extension.umn.edu/distribution/horticulture/DG1164.html http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/focus/verticillium.html Newt -------------------- When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. |
