I have a "Tulip Poplar" (not sure) tree that is in excess of 60 feet tall with a trunk diameter of approx 3+feet. Below the limb line, the tree is encased with a hugely thick green vine. Can this harm the tree if it is kept below the limb line? Thanks so much. Vines harm trees by: Twining around, restricting circulation. Shading leaves Root competition obscuring decay, insects and other problems at the base of the tree. If your tree is vigorous and the vine is not twining, you might leave it. I would remove some of the vine's leaves to permit regular inspection of the trunk and root flare. |
