A tricorder is a scanning, non-invasive, diagnostic device that we use here on the Enterprise.

Now if we can just get Scotty to work out the correct phaser modulation, we can make pruning much easier. I think removals should be left to the transporter. What do you think Cap'n?

Well, think about using the transporter for transplanting. Moving large trees would no longer be a problem, helicopotters not withstanding.
