| Help, will the tree die?

I have a Silver Maple tree in my backyard I want to build an addition along with a basement onto my house the tree is about 3ft in dia and I would be doing the construction about 8ft away from the tree. I do not want to take the tree down if it is not necessary. We will be cutting down through the roots, will this kill the tree? Or will the tree be alright? Please HELP?

The tree will NOT die, if all the rest conditions are favorable.
But it is not common... |
