I am a seedsman in wolverhampton UK. My wife collected some cones from NZ on the occasion of our daughter's wedding. I planted the seed from the cones and they are now coming through. The mystery is that we have no idea which pine trees they are from and in an effort to secure longer term care of the seedlings would like to know. All we have is the place they came from. Woodland in Upper Hutt. Come on all you arborists any ideas?????

Do you still have any of the cones? They can often be used for identification of the parent tree. A description of the cones might lead to some informed guesses. Even better would be a photo (digital). If you can get one or two, send them to me via email, and I can post them on this forum. An image of the seedlinggs might also be helpful. We do have a few regulars here from NZ and 'Oz'.
