At the beginning of August I am attending the ISA conference in Baltimore. I am taking a few days before the
conference to do some sight seeing. Any recomendations? On other trips to the area I have seen the Mall
museums in DC. I plan on going down to Williamsburg and then Mt Vernon on the way back up.

A while ago I got hooked on the Horatio Hornblower series and Patrick O'Brian's series too so old wooden
sailing ships have become a fascination. While in Bal'more I will ge checking out the Constellation. Does anyone
know about any shipyards where they might be fitting out old ships?

Is there a Civil War battlefield that should be on my "Don't Miss" list?

What about gardens or other tree related stops. I went to the National Arboretum last time and I will get to see the Wye Oak again with the SCA.

What about food advice? For years I have heard that soft shell crabs cannot be missed. Any other regional
foods that I need to try. Specific restaurants or roadhouses?

Thanks for any information.

The downtown, harbor area of Balmore is quite nice and there are water taxis to take you to other areas in the harbor. Don't miss the national aquarium which will take a few hours. As to history, Fort McHenry where the national anthem was written is nearby. There are lots of other attractions close by that the hotel concierge can fix you up with.

BTW, it's HARD shell crabs you want, and Phillips in the harbor is a great restaurant.

See ya there!
