Mistletoe on oak, hmmmm. Mistletoe is tough to get rid of without cutting the tree down and disposing of it. But it is possible to remove localized sections. You can also cover the mistletoe with black plastic to prevent photosynthesis and dissemination of spores. You can remove just the exposed portions of mistletoe which will help in reducing its spread to other trees or parts thereof. I suggest you contact your local private or service forester to inspect your situation and provide a recommendation. You must be in CA? |

Unfortunately, you cannot permanently remove mistletoe from oak trees? It actually sets roots into the oak sapstream, as it is a parasite. As someone mentioned, cutting out the exposed infestation will help, as it limits the nutrient draw. |
