I would like information about Oregon White Oak (Q. Garryana). Specifically, will young trees do well in an irrigated situation (provided the water coverage is no closer than 4' from the trunk), or should coverage be kept away as far as possible? Keeping in mind, of course, the PROJECTED root zone. The thrust of this question is to determine how much modification must be done to an existing irrigated lawn, so as to provide good chances for long-term success for Oaks to be planted in the future. Also, I'm looking for suppliers of Quercus Garryana. Suggestions? Ideas?
