Taken from the linked site, here is information on uses for this tree's wood, but nothing about rate of growth. The tree is a nectar source for honey production. Rewarewa (Knightia excelsa) Requires special sawing. Tough and hard-wearing, non-skid properties. Machines well, peeling satisfactory. Decorative figure. Inlay and decorative furniture work. Flooring. Uses requiring toughness. The following site lists the tree as moderately fast in growth rate, with good wind resistance. Largest trees are about 9 to 10 meters high and up to a meter wide, being narrow and tapered. http://www.naturallynative.co.nz/Brochures/shelter.html One last site reference: http://www.members.bush.org.nz/planterguide/fact.cfm?species=Knightia%20excelsa I suggest you try to contact someone in New Zealand who works in forestry to get the more particular data that you seek. Good luck. |
