I'm interested in obtaining copies of the appraisal guide, editions 1 through 5. If anyone has copies they are willing to part with, I'd like to hear from you. Any condition.

Russ, Somewhere in my files, I have xerox copies of I, II and III, and Guides IV and V. I went back to the beginning for the ISA/ASCA workshops when the VII came out. I'll start to dig and find them. I and II are 95% species class lists with one or two paragraphs on how to. If you don't come up with a better offer for III, IV and V, let me know and I'll copy them for you.

Bill, tried to reply email, and it bounced.

I would greatly appreciate if you could copy editions 3, 4 and 5.
I will gladly pay copy costs and your time. I have 6 through 8, and
several old valuation books. I want to understand the history of the
appraisal process a little better.

At the risk of upsetting some, I'll suggest what you want to understand (admirably) is the evolution of tree appraisal as set forth in the Guide Vers. x..... which seems to have largely ignored the Appraisal Process as academically and professionally defined (at least in recent years).

What I've found in reviews of past stuff on certain specific issues is that the evolution can sort of be followed but not very well understood, the rationale seldom stated, sources seldom cited and sources that are alluded too often misquoted, in error or unfindable.

Sorry guys but that's the deal. This is not to belittle or minimize the work that was done. It was just not well documented and in many respects was built on poor foundations.

Russ I think I already shared with you the bibliography I developed on some of those earlier sources. If not I'll see if it's still in the archives somewhere.

You are correct, as usual, Scott. I know I won't learn the appraisal concepts from this, but I want to see where the development of this process has gone.

I'm sure I have your bibliography, but not the time now to research it much. I did find one of the references, when I can get around to opening it :/

Well Russ, having accumulated some old editions, have you had the time to look them over? Any big picture observations about the evolution of the methods?
