It appears that a large Maple tree on my property is suffering from stress related to construction traffic. The surrounding ground had heavy equipment traffic over 50% of the drip line. Also approximately 3-4 inches of new soil has been deposited over 50% of the drip line. The traffic occurred approximately 5 weeks ago (7-1-99) and the leaves are changing color as they do in autumn.

What can I do to save the tree?

In October, do a soil injection fertilizing. That will help the roots although it won't alleviate the soil compaction.
