This is a spur of the moment decision, next year it will look better. We will
send the bullet out sooner also.

Any questions/advise, e-mail me here or my home address
(sanborns-trees@wi.rr.com) I post allot on other groups on the board so
you can find the link.

We have an unbelievable amount of things we can do here so this would be
a great opportunity for any student.

Subj.: Arbor intern/helper.

Milwaukee Country Club beginning an arboriculture program intent on
focusing on the entire plant from the soil to the terminal buds, and
associations between trees. We are currently looking to begin an internship
program that will be a seasonal position for one student. Pay will be $9.00/
hr plus overtime. There is no rooming available this season due to the last
minute decision in the position.

The ideal candidate will be intent on following a wider scope of the field.
One who is intent on tall tree work and large removals may be
disappointed.
Other qualifications;
Basic pruning knowledge
Understanding of ANSI Z 133 safety guidelines.
Familiarity of taxonomy at least at the genus level (i.e. spruce from pine,
maples from oak)
Be at least 18 years of age so that power equipment can be used.
Be able to perform the physical tasks common to tree work, (i.e. dragging
brush, raking, digging.)

Having some familiarity with pesticide use and regulations would be a plus
but not necessary.

Some of the projects we are starting are;
In-house nursery
Basal exams for encircling/girdling roots with an “air-knife“.
Rehabilitating and improving our course orchards
Tree Hazard Evaluation Program

We have a D.E.D. protection program ongoing, and are implementing
control programs for sycamore anthracnose, apple scab, rhizospheara and
other problems common to landscape trees.

We encourage all men and women who feel they fit our program to apply. A
brief letter describing why they would be the best candidate, and a letter of
recommendation by an instructor would be required.
