The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is looking for qualified Tree Climbers to fill positions in Montgomery County and Prince George's County

Tree Climber I
Under general supervision, performs skilled tree maintenance work, involving considerable responsibility and complexity. Climbs trees to perform most difficult and dangerous tree work Operates chain saws and other equipment to remove diseased, dead or unwanted trees from woods, parks, and other areas owned by the Commission. Directs activities of ground crew. Performs tree maintenance work at ground level when tree climbing is not needed. Provided emergency service to clear fallen trees after a storm. Work is specialized due to the hazardous nature of duties and teamwork required by tree crew. Normally works outside, sometimes in bad weather, Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Completion of 12th grade or GED and three years of tree maintenance experience, that included two years of experience as a tree climber, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, Valid Class B Driver’s license, or the ability to acquire one. Excellent benefits. Salary Ranges from $$27,562 - $35, 795 (top of grade $44, 028)

Tree Climber II
Under general supervision, provides work direction over a small tree crew (2-3 persons) to perform skilled tree maintenance work, involving considerable responsibility, complexity and variety. Provides general tree maintenance. Normally climbs trees and operated aerial lift truck to perform most difficult and dangerous tree work. Drives truck to carry crew and equipment to work sites. Provides emergency service to clear fallen trees after storms. Work is specialized due to hazardous nature of duties and teamwork required by tree crew.
Minimum Qualifications: Completion of 12th grade or GED, and four years of tree maintenance experience, that include three years of experience as a tree climber using an aerial lift and with the ability to plan tree maintenance work.
Excellent benefits. Salary ranges from: $30,928 to $40,165 (top of grade $49,404).
